Singaporean singer JJ Lin visited Shanghai on Thursday to promote his new album Xi Jie or West Side, the Xinmin Evening Post reported.

Known by mainland audiences for his hits Cao Cao and Jiang Nan, JJ Lin has tried a different style in his new work, which he says is cool and even dark.

Although some criticised his image in the music video for new song Sha Shou, and another song, Wu Liao, was banned in the mainland for some inappropriate words in the lyrics, Lin said it just showed his development.

The album was released worldwide on June 29.
