Seven US military personnel were killed when a US military helicopter crashed in Iraq's volatile Anbar province on Wednesday, the US military said.

"A marine CH-46 helicopter went down in Al-Anbar province this morning while conducting routine operations," the military said in a statement.

All seven people aboard, including crew members and passengers, were killed in the crash, the statement added.

Earlier on Wednesday, the US military confirmed that a CH-46 helicopter went down northwest of Baghdad without mentioning the casualties.
