Latvia to Withdraw Troops from Iraq in Mid-June

Latvian Defense Minister Atic Slaktelis has announced that his country will withdraw its troops from Iraq in mid-June, the Latvian News Agency reported on Monday.

The Latvian troops have completed their mission in Iraq and will leave in mid-June, Slaktelis said during a meeting with families of Latvian soldiers.

The chief of Latvia's armed forces added that the Latvian troops will pull out of Iraq around June 20.

There are currently 124 Latvian soldiers stationed in Iraq.
