Wu Guanzheng

Wu Guanzheng, a native of Yugan, Jiangxi Province, was born in August 1938. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in March 1962 and began his career in April 1968. He is a postgraduate majored in thermal engineering from Tsinghua University and an engineer. From 1968 to 1975, he served as technician, deputy chief of the Technical Section, workshop chief, a member of the factory抯 CPC committee and vice-chairman of the Revolutionary Committee of the Wuhan Gedian Chemical Plant in Wuhan, Hubei Province. From 1975 to 1982, he was deputy director of Wuhan City Science and Technology Commission and a member of its CPC leading group; vice-chairman of Wuhan City Scientists Association and a member of its CPC leading group; commander and concurrently office chief of Wuhan抯 Reform and Potential-tapping Headquarters; director and secretary of the CPC Committee of Wuhan City Engineering and Scientific Research Center. Beginning in 1982 till 1983, he was a Standing Committee member of CPC Wuhan City Committee; between 1983-1986, he served as secretary of CPC Wuhan City Committee and mayor of Wuhan.

From 1986 to 1995, he served as deputy secretary of CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee, acting governor, and governor of Jiangxi Province. During the period of 1995-1997, he was secretary of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee. In 1997, he was appointed secretary of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and also president of the provincial Party School.

He was an alternate member of the 12th CPC Central Committee, and a member of the 13th and 14th CPC Central Committees. He is a member of the 15th CPC Central Committee and a member of its Political Bureau.
