Bai Keming      

Bai Keming, born in October 1943, graduated from the Missile Engineering Department of the Harbin Military Engineering College in July 1967.

Thereafter, he successively worked with the Heilongjiang Provincial Bureau of Metallurgy and Geology, Harbin Institute of Shipbuilding and the Office of Shaanxi Provincial Committee of National Defense Industry.

From 1978 to 1988, he worked with the General Office of the State Education Commission, acting as deputy division director, division director, and deputy director of the General Office.

In January 1989, he took up the post of director of the Bureau of Education, Science, Culture and Health under the Research Office of the State Council.

He began serving as secretary-general of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in January 1993, as the deputy director of the Publicity Department in April 1993, as deputy director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee in March 2000, and as president of the People's Daily Press in June of that year.

Since August 2001, he has been working as a member, a standing committee member and secretary of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, and was elected chairman of the Hainan Provincial People's Congress in September 2001.

Bai is also a member of the Ninth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
