Roundup: World Media Highly Praise CPC's 16th National Congress

News organizations in the world have paid a lot of attention to the on-going 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), sharing the same view that the significant event will produce profound and lasting influence upon China's future development.

The congress sets a well-defined and unswerving goal for the party to fully develop a society in which the Chinese people will enjoy a fairly comfortable life and thus upgrade the building of socialism with Chinese characteristics, the Nouvelles d'Europe newspaper in France commented on Tuesday.

Changes made in China over the past two decades and more, as a result of the successful reform and opening-up policies pursued by the CPC-led government, have proved that the CPC, the founder of New China, has more than enough capability to lead the whole nation into a stronger and more flourishing future, said the newspaper in an editorial titled "New Milestone in Chinese History."

Moreover, the important "Three Representatives" theory on CPC-building by Jiang Zemin, general secretary of the CPC's Central Committee, will imbue all the Chinese with fervent enthusiasm for participation in the country's modernization drive, the editorial continued.

Under the "Three Representatives" theory raised by General Secretary Jiang, the CPC must always represent the development trend of China's advanced productive forces, the orientation of China's advanced culture and the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the people in China. The editorial expressed the belief that the theory, which fully reflects the current actual situation in China, will also surely and greatly enhance the creativity, rallying power and combat capability of the party.

In Germany, a number of national newspapers such as Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Die Welt and Sueddeutsche Zeitung have given considerable coverage to the CPC congress.

The CPC wants to enter the new era of globalization with guidelines adapted to the times and with further support from the masses. The significant "Three Representatives" theory will help enlarge the party's basis among the people, said the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper in a recent article titled "CPC Seeks a Wider Basis."

Russia's media including the Parliament and Izvestia newspapers, the Interfax News Agency, the ITA-Tass and the Independent Television all heavily reported on the CPC's congress.

Jiang's report on the opening day of the congress summed up the party's evolution over the past 13 years while having defined the main direction for China's future development, the Parliament newspaper said.

Jiang has set it as the party's goal to fully develop a society in which the people will enjoy a fairly comfortable life, suggesting that the nation will continue its successful reform and opening-up policies, the Interfax News Agency reported.

China has made historic achievements during the past two decades and thus secured its more than 1.3 billion people a life with adequate food and clothing. Generally speaking, the Chinese people have become relatively well-off according to various related official data, said the report.
