Chinese President Hu Jintao met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on October 8, 2006. Abe, who came to Beijing on October 8, 2006 less than two weeks after his investiture, is the first Japanese postwar prime minister to choose China as his first official overseas trip.
