Super Girl Sings for The Painted Veil
Adjust font size:

In a recent Hollywood revelation it was announced that China's 2006 Female Idol, Shang Wenjie, will sing the title song for a major film production called The Painted Veil.

Shang Wenjie will make her film industry singing debut in grand style with the movie's French title song A La Claire Fontaine when the movie premieres around the globe.

Edward Norton and Naomi Watts star in The Painted Veil a story of love and self-discovery set in a remote village in China in the 1920s.

The film has sparked a battle between its studio and producer over the final cut of the movie with fears that delays in editing and poor promotion could hinder its chances at next year's Oscars.

The film is due for release later this month -- just two months ahead of the February Academy Awards -- and producer Bob Yari is angry that Warner Bros. have allegedly not fully supported the project.

Despite offering to buy the film and supplement the studio's marketing campaign Yari maintains the studio "wants the film buried" in favor of other Oscar contenders The Departed, Letters from Iwo Jima and Happy Feet.

However, Warner Bros. studio president, Alan Horn, insists the movie giant has faith in the film and the Oscar campaign has been hampered only by delays stemming from the deal producers made to shoot in China.
