Famous Japanese robot cat Doraemon from the 22nd Century of the future who has a magic pocket with lots of amazing gadgets now travels to China.

The Beijing News reports that Doraemon the Movie 2006 is expected to screen in Chinese cinemas this July, the month of China's school summer vacation.

Doraemon was originally a Japanese cartoon character created by Japan's cartoon master Fujiko Fujio. It later became the lead role in an animation series which is about a robot cat called Doraemon. The lovely robot cat has a fourth-dimensional pocket on his abdomen, from which he can always take out many amazing tools.

In the science-fiction animation, Doraemon was sent from his future century back to the 20th century to help a little boy named Nobita Nobi out from various troubles.

Almost every young Chinese born in 1980s had read cartoon books or watched animation series about Doraemon in their childhood.

Since the 1990s, Japan has kept releasing each year a cinema version of Doraemon. It is the first time that Doraemon the Movie has entered into Chinese market and also the first Japanese movie to screen in China this year. Chinese students are its targeted audiences.

The 2006 cinema version tells the story of Nobita Nobi and his friends in helping a little dinosaur travel back to Cretaceous Age when dinosaurs lived.
