1.  Political relations

China and Libya established diplomatic relations in Aug. 1978. Since then, the cooperation of the two countries in various fields has developed continuously. They support each other in international affairs and share a common understanding on Human Rights and other major questions. Libya sticks to one-China policy on the question of Taiwan.

2.  Economic and trade relations

The two countries signed the first trade agreement and the agreement of cooperation on economy, science and technology in Aug.1978, which came to force in Oct.1982. Also in Oct.1982, the two countries signed the Agreement on Establishment of Sino-Libyan Joint Committee on Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technological Cooperation, and Sino-Libyan Mutual Cooperation Program.

The mutually beneficial business cooperation between China and Libya started in 1981.  Chinese companies  entered Libya successively to make contracts in labor service market in construction sites and infrastructure projects. 

3. Cooperation in public health, culture and science technology

In 1982, China and Libya signed an ?Agreement Concerning the Sending of Medical Teams by China to Libya?. The Chinese Medical Teams went to work in Libya from 1983 to 1994. In 1985, the two countries signed an agreement on cultural cooperation. In 1990, a Note on scientific and technological cooperation was signed. In 2001, a program on implementation of cultural and information cooperation from 2001 to 2004 was signed.
