Since China and Chad restored ambassadorial diplomatic relations on Aug. 6, 2006, bilateral personnel exchanges and cooperation in various fields have been on fast track. The Chinese Government has always supported the Chad Government in its endeavor to maintain its national sovereignty and expanding its economy. The Chad Government adheres to the one-China policy that the Chinese Government is the only legitimate government representing the whole of China, and Taiwan is an inseparable part of the Chinese territory. In 2005, bilateral trade reached US$206 million.
