Adjust font size:

Guangdong provincial communications authority planned to build 25,000-kilometer roads, including 2,000-kilometer expressways over the next five years.

According to the 11th Five-Year Program of Guangdong Province (2006-2010), the total expenditure for road construction is expected to reach 290 billion yuan.

In 2005, the provincial road authorities invested 40.9 billion yuan in road projects, 29 percent more than the previous year, and added 622 kilometers to its 2,500-kilometer expressway network, which ranks second in the country. The road density reached 64.78 kilometers per 100 square kilometers.

It is expected an expressway network, with Guangzhou and Shenzhen at the core, will connect to several neighboring provinces and should be established by the end of the 11th Five-Year Program.
