Measures Taken to Crackdown Commercial Bribery
Adjust font size:

Senior Chinese official Wu Guanzheng on Saturday called for determined and forceful measures to crack down on commercial bribery.

Wu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) made the remarks at an executive meeting of the leading group of the national anti-commercial bribery.

The crack down on commercial bribery should focus on the issues of people's concern that seriously harm the public interests and disturb the market order, especially in areas including construction, lease of land-use property, property trade, pharmaceutical purchase, government procurement and resource developing and trading, he said.

Wu, also secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, said that civil servants who abuse their power in involvement or interference with the business of entrepreneurial or institutional units to seek bribery or illegal profits should be severely punished.

He called for the speedup of the establishment of a credit system to better impose management and supervision over related transactions.

The crack down on commercial bribery should be based on China's realities, Wu said, adding that China should also enhance exchanges with other countries and learn from their experiences in fighting against commercial bribery.
