Media Supervision Stressed in Corruption Fight
Adjust font size:

A senior Chinese leader on Monday called for media supervision in a national campaign to prevent corruption and improve the work of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the government.

During an inspection of China Central Television Station (CCTV), the nation's biggest broadcaster, Wu Guanzheng, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee's Political Bureau, said media publicity was vital to the campaign as more efforts should be on preventing corruption.

Wu, also secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC, said the media should stick to the "right orientation" to guide public opinion, improve information on clean governance among Party officials and the public to build an atmosphere of probity and integrity.

Media supervision should be improved to reflect the Party's stance and the public opinion and Party committees and the authorities should listen to the voice of media to improve their work, he said.
