Jurists Urged to Help Create Public Awareness About Law
Adjust font size:

A senior Chinese official called on the country's jurisconsults to help create awareness about the rule of law among the public, at Friday's launching ceremony of a program of "holding 100 lectures on law by 100 jurists".

The program is a major step for the jurist circle to help implement the state policy of governing by law, said Luo Gan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Politics and Law.

It is also an important part of the "Fifth Five-Year Plan" for creating public awareness about law as well as a try for jurists to lecture on law outside of their studies, classrooms and institutes, Luo said. He urged local authorities to give assistance to the program.

Zhou Yongkang, Cheng Siwei and Luo Haocai attended the ceremony.
