Both China and the US are actively preparing for President Hu Jintao's planned visit to the US in the first half of 2006, said the Foreign Ministry spokesperson Liu Jianchao in Beijing on Tuesday.

 

Liu made the remarks when answering a journalist's question at a news briefing.

 

Liu said that the two sides would decide the specific date of the visit through diplomatic channels.

 

"China will continue its efforts to ensure the success of the visit and accomplishment of expected goals." Liu said.
