State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan said in Beijing Monday that China is expecting more investment from Britain.

China welcomes more British enterprises to invest in China, particularly in the western and northeastern regions, said Tang while meeting with Britain's Prince Andrew, the Duke of York.

Tang said the two countries are expected to focus more on exchanges and cooperation in such fields as trade, investment, finance, education and culture since China-Britain relations are currently at a good development stage.

Prince Andrew, who is also the country's special representative for international trade and investment, said he will make efforts for further enhancing trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

He said his visit is aimed at reinforcing Britain-China relations following President Hu Jintao's visit to Britain last year.

The prince, as guest of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, started his trade and commerce-centered China visit on Sunday.

Besides Beijing, Andrew will also visit China's financial hub of Shanghai, East China's Jiangsu Province and Northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
