Nepali PM, Guerrillas Supremo to Meet Today

Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and guerrillas supremo Prachanda will hold supreme talks Today, a local media reported.

"Following the second round of talks between the government and the guerrillas on Thursday, Koirala and Prachanda will hold supreme talks on Friday," The Kathmandu Post, local English language national daily, reported.

The paper, however, did not mention the source of the news and the venue and time of the supreme talks.

On Thursday, the government and the guerrillas decided to organize high-level talks between top leaders of the Seven Party Alliance and the guerrillas group "as soon as possible", which would work out the ways for constituent assembly election.

The second round of talks between Home Minister Krishna Prashad Sitaula and guerrillas spokesman Krishna Bahadur Mahara agreed to set stage for top level talks.

Briefing the press after the talks Sitaula said that the summit talks would take place "sooner than you might be imaging."

According to Mahara, the summit talks will be focused on constituent assembly elections and arms management.

"The leaders themselves will decide whether the summit talks will be held secretly or openly," Mahara added.

The first round of talks between the government and the guerrillas was held on May 26 at Gokarna in suburb Kathmandu city.
