China Hopes to Enhance Strategic Cooperation with EU

China's top lawmaker Wu Bangguo said in Beijing Wednesday that China values relationship with the European Union (EU) and hopes to enhance strategic cooperation with the EU.

 

"China hopes to enhance political exchanges and strategic cooperation with the EU so as to boost China-EU relations to a new level," Wu said in his meeting with European Parliament President Josep Borrell Fontelles.

 

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), said China and the EU share broad common interests and to further China-EU relations serves the interests of the peoples of the two sides and helps maintain world peace and common development.

 

The Chinese top lawmaker said China's NPC hopes to improve exchanges with the European Parliament to contribute to the development of China-EU relations.

 

Borrell said the European Parliament also hopes to enhance dialogue and communication with the Chinese side to deepen mutual understanding and trust to jointly push forward the EU-China relations.
