Top Legislator Leaves Beijing for South America

Top legislator Wu Bangguo left Beijing on Monday morning on official visits to Brazil, Uruguay and Chile.

 

During his South America trip from August 28 to September 9, Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, will also visit the Latin-American Parliament in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

 

Wu was invited by President Renan Calheiros of the Federal Senate and President Also Rebelo of the Chamber of Deputies of the Brazilian National Congress, President Rodolfo Gustavo Nin Noboa of the National Congress of Uruguay, who is also Uruguay's vice president and president of the Senate.

 

Wu will also be a guest of President Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle of the Senate and President Antonio Leal Labrin of the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of Chile, and President Ney Lopes of the Latin-American Parliament.

 

Traveling with Wu are his wife Zhang Ruizhen and members of the top legislative body of China, local legislatures and ministries, including Dai Bingguo, Chen Jianguo, Shi Xiushi, Lu Congmin, Cao Weizhou, Sun Wei and Wei Jianguo.
