China attaches great importance to ties with Nepal and appreciates Nepal's consistent support on the Taiwan and Tibet issues, top political advisor Jia Qinglin said in Beijing Wednesday.

Jia made the remark in a meeting with visiting Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs K.P. Sharma Oli.

He said China encouraged Tibet Autonomous Region to foster exchanges and cooperation with Nepal and was willing to join with Nepal to promote bilateral ties.

"The Chinese and Nepalese peoples share a long history of friendly exchanges and since the founding of bilateral relations, the two countries have established a good exchange program and cooperation," Jia said.

Oli expressed his appreciation for the Chinese government and people's long-standing political support and economic assistance, saying his country would adhere to the one-China policy and prohibit any anti-China activity on Nepalese territory.

Nepal would join China in pushing forward bilateral relations.

Oli is on an official visit to China from August 26 to September 2 at the invitation of Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing. Oli has also visited Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.
