Nepal, China Exempt Visa Requirements Each Other

Citizens of Nepal and the People's Republic of China who are holding Valid Diplomatic and Service (Official) Passports, including members of diplomatic and consular missions, shall be exempted from visa requirements while entering into or transiting through the territory of each other.

 

The time span of stay has been limited for a maximum period of 30 days, and if anyone requires to stay longer than that period should go through necessary application procedures with each others' competent authorities through diplomatic channels.

 

The provisions also include family members (spouse and underage children) of the above mentioned citizens who accompany them during the visit and hold valid diplomatic or service (official) passports or are included in such passports as dependents.

 

It is stated in a press release issued by Nepali Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sunday.

 

Both the governments have completed domestic requirements for the implementation of Mutual Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic and Service (Official) Passport as per the agreement sighed between the two countries on August 15, 2005.

 

The article 10 of the agreement provides that it enters into force on the date of the letter written notification by the contracting parties, through diplomatic channels indicating that the domestic requirements for the implementation have been compiled with.

 

"As both the contracting parties have communicated each other through diplomatic channels, the completion of the internal procedures for execution of the agreement, it has come into force from October 11, 2006," it has been stated in the release.

 

"It is believed that the existing friendly relations between Nepal and China will be further promoted and exchange of visits will be facilitated with the implementation of this agreement," Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said in the statement.
