Adjust font size:

Slovenia and China agreed on Thursday to boost bilateral cooperation in the field of health and medicine, said reports reaching Belgrade from the Slovenian capital Ljubljana.

Slovenian Health Minister Andrej Brucan and Chinese Deputy Minister of Health Li Xi signed an action plan on cooperation between the two ministries in the area of health and medicine for the 2006-2007 period, the Slovene Press Agency reported.

The plan is aimed at broadening "the cooperation between the two ministries in the fields of blood safety and transfusion medicine, acupuncture and in researching the impact of the environment on people's health," Brucan said after the signing ceremony.

The plan also envisages facilitating cooperation between experts of both countries in the area of health and medicine, exchange of experience and implementation of joint projects, he said.

Li told reporters that the action plan was concluded in line with an intergovernmental agreement on health and medicine which was signed in Beijing in October 1996.
