Iran Ready to Settle Nuclear Problems
Adjust font size:

Iran is willing to continue negotiations on settling the problem of its nuclear program, Iran's top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani said in Moscow on Friday.

"We are willing to settle all (problems) through negotiations," Larijani, secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, was quoted as saying by Interfax news agency following negotiations with Russian Security Council Secretary Igor Ivanov.

"In conformity with the Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons, we want to use our rights within this treaty, and we will not make any concessions in this respect, but we are prepared for negotiations," Larijani said.

"Those who support the passage of a (UN Security Council) resolution want to worsen the problems in the region, because nuclear weapons have absolutely no place in our military doctrine," Larijani said.

"Iran accepts IAEA inspections, and we are committed to the Nonproliferation Treaty. If there are disagreements between the sides, we are prepared to resolve all of them through negotiations," Larijani said.

Last week, Russia asked for a major revision of the UN Security Council draft resolution which proposes sanctions against Iran for its nuclear ambitions.

The draft resolution, drawn by Britain, France and Germany, demanded mandated nuclear and ballistic-missile-related trade sanctions against Iran. It also called for a freeze on assets related to Iran's nuclear and missile programs, and travel bans on scientists involved in those programs.
