Adjust font size:

China and Hungary vowed in Budapest Wednesday to step up their substantive cooperation in the economic and investment fields in an aim to jointly explore the European market and further enrich the bilateral relations.

China and Hungary have strong economic complementarity and two nations share a very good foundation for the economic cooperation, visiting Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo said in his meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany, referring to that China already succeeds in the economic construction and Hungary have a strategic geographic position in and is a very important member of the European Union (EU).

China supports the concept of the establishment of a "Chinese brands trading center" in Hungary, Wu said, expressing his willingness to promote the two business communities to foster cooperation especially in the fields of infrastructure construction, tourism, science and technology.

Echoing Wu's views on the bilateral relations, Gyurcsany said China maintains its economic growth at a surprisingly high rate, which is a perfect evidence of success for a unique, innovative path China chooses to develop.

Hungary will further develop its relations with China in a comprehensive way, and is willing to play an important role of bridging the Chinese business into the EU market, Gyurcsany said.

The Hungary Prime Minister also reiterated Hungary's coherence to the one-China policy.

In the talks with his Hungarian counterpart Szili Katalin, Wu also stressed his commitment to boost the exchanges and cooperation between the Chinese and Hungarian legislatures to facilitate bilateral relations.

The Chinese NPC will continue its high-level exchanges with the Hungarian parliament, increase in-depth cooperation between the special committees of the legislatures, and enhance communication on legislation so as to serve the comprehensive development of China-Hungary relations, Wu said.

At an invitation of Szili, speaker of National Assembly of Hungary, Wu arrived in Budapest on Tuesday afternoon. It is the first time for a Chinese top legislator to visit the East European nation.

Agreeing with Wu's views on the inter-parliamentary cooperation, Szili said the cooperation between the two parliaments is a very important component of the bilateral relations.

The National Assembly of Hungary will make its utmost efforts to promote the bilateral cooperation in the economic, trade and financial fields to a new level through its friendly exchange and cooperation with the NPC, Szili said.

Hungary is the second leg of Wu's three-nation tour to Africa and Europe, which will also take him to Poland. Prior to Hungary, Wu already paid a successful visit to Egypt.
