Forensic officers examine the scene of Saturday's attack on the terminal building at Glasgow Airport Glasgow Scotland July 1, 2007.

One of the men arrested after the car bomb attack at Glasgow airport, in northern Britain, has been charged with conspiracy to cause explosions.

Bilal Abdullah, a 27-year-old Iraqi doctor, will appear before Westminster magistrates on Saturday following the alleged terror plots in London and Glasgow, the British Broadcasting Corporation reported on Friday night.

The decision comes as new footage of the attempted Glasgow car bomb attack shows a blazing jeep crashing into the terminal building.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Abdullah was being charged under the 1883 Explosive Substances Act.

The charge, which covers a period from Jan. 1 to July 1 this year, alleges that he "unlawfully and maliciously conspired with others to cause explosions of a nature likely to endanger life or cause serious injury to property in the United Kingdom."

Susan Hemming, head of the CPS Counter Terrorism Division said: "I have now made the decision that there is sufficient evidence and authorized the charging of Bilal Abdullah with conspiracy to cause explosions following incidents in London and Glasgow on June 29, 2007 and June 30, 2007.

"Other individuals arrested by the police in connection with the bomb attacks remain in custody pending a charging decision," she added.

As July 7 marks the second anniversary of the terrorist bombings which killed 52 people on London's transport network, security in Britain is tight over the weekend for the start of the Tour de France cycle race in London and the finals of the Wimbledon tennis championship.
