China's Fencer Steps into Men's Foil Final


China's top foil fencer Wang Haibin, who is now ranked 31st by the International Fencing Federation, knocked out his Italian rival at the semi-final of the 21st World University Games.

The 27-year-old Wang frustrated Mammi Lorenzo, gold medalist in team foil fencing of World Cup in 2001, 15-12 in a fierce bout.

Wang's is China's hot favorite for its first fencing gold at the Universiades.
