Olympic Champion Loses Gold for Men's Pommel Horse

China's Olympic champion Xing Aowei failed to take gold for men's pommel at the apparatus finals of the Universiade here Sunday afternoon and the glory went to Romania's Suciu Ioan who clinched the title with 9.800 points.

Xing Aowei, who was second to perform his routine, gained a high score of 9.76 2 points, finally shared the silver with Japan's Tomita Hiroyuki, a new star who gained the men's individual all-around silver on Saturday.

Suciu, who did not leave spectators a deep impression in the previous team and individual all-around competitions, gave his best performance this afternoon with neat and fluent movements on the pommel horse and the highest starting value point of ten for the difficulties of his routine.

In the first competition of the men's floor exercises, China's Liang Fuliang took the title with the score of 9.525 points.
