The two sides discussed control of synthetic opioids, drug testing technology, and efforts to place ketamine on a list of internationally controlled substances, among other issues.

China and the U.S. can share a lot in the fight against opioids and their concerted efforts will improve drug control, said Liang Yun, head of the narcotics control bureau of the Ministry of Public Security.

The U.S. side spoke highly of the Sino-U.S. cooperation in the past year, saying new progress in drug prohibition is expected.
