In July 2006, Beijing city authorities invited five international acclaimed directors -- Giuseppe Tornatore from Italy, Majid Majidi from Iran, Patrice Leconte of France, Daryl Goodrich of Britain as well as Andrew Lau Wai Keung from Hong Kong -- to make short films, with each documentary shorts recounting how Chinese people had been preparing for the 2008 Olympic Games.

The filmmakers' shorts went on air beginning on Thursday. Major Chinese TV stations, as well as French, Italian and Iranian channels also broadcast these films.
