The China Tour of the exclusive, world-renowned unplugged series will expand to six new cities including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanning, Hangzhou, Changsha and Chengdu starting from this March, according to the press conference released in Beijing on Friday.

Pop singer Su Jianxin, known as Shin, will start the new campaign with a gig in Guangzhou on March 29.

MTV Unplugged's China Tour was jointly launched by the international entertainment giant Music Television, or MTV, and Red Bull Vitamin Drink Co. Ltd last November.

During last year's event, pop duo Yu Quan presented a concert in Shanghai and Taiwan rocker Chang Chen Yue staged a show in Beijing

More Chinese singers want to join the event on account of the two shows' success, and the six cities will host high standard performances this year, the organizer vowed.

The MTV Unplugged series features acoustic performances by major artists from across the globe. The series has been acclaimed by music fans and critics alike for offering a new perspective on live music.

Acoustic music refers to music that solely or primarily uses instruments that produce sounds entirely through acoustic means, as opposed to electronic means.

Unplugged has stuck to its original idea of being raw, simple and fresh, bringing an intimate studio atmosphere for artists to perform for a small live audience.
