Snowstorms to hit east China over next 24 hours

Snowstorms will hit the eastern China provinces of Anhui and Zhejiang over the next 24 hours, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said Thursday.

The NMC forecast snowstorms to hit southeast parts of Gansu, southwest parts of Shanxi, southern parts of Anhui and northern parts of Zhejiang and Jiangxi over the next 24 hours.

Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and the provinces of Gansu, Shanxi, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi and Sichuan experienced sleet and 1-4 millimeters of snowfall in the 24 hours to 5 a.m. Thursday.

South-central parts of Zhejiang and Hunan, northern parts of Fujian and central parts of Jiangxi received rainfall of 2-8 millimeters in the same period.

Authorities advised the public to be alert for slippery road conditions.
