5.8-magnitude earthquake hits SW China

An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter Scale jolted Yingjiang County in southwest China's Yunnan Province at 12:58 a.m. Beijing Time Thursday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10 kilometers, was monitored at 24.7 degrees north latitude and 97.9 degrees east longitude, the center said.
