Each year, compared with coal-fueled power stations of similar scale, the four units of Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant (GNPS) and Ling Ao Nuclear Power Plant (LNPS) Phase I in Daya Bay base reduce the consumption of more than 12 million tons of coal, appropriately 27 million tons of CO2, 100 thousand tons of SO2, 60 thousand tons of NOx and other gases, and 1200 thousand tons of coal ash.

In 2007, environment monitoring of the two stations was normal, three-waste release was controlled well within the national limits, no accidental exposure and individual overexposure happened.

According to the long-term radioactivity data gathered from the 15 independent environment-monitoring stations in Guangdong and Hong Kong region, there was no traceable change compared with the background figures obtained prior to the commercial operation of the stations.

Industrial safety

According to the long -term data from the 10 monitoring stations within a radius of 10 kilometers of Daya Bay Base, it indicates that there has been no obvious change in the level of radioactivity of Daya Bay base compared with the background figures obtained prior to the commercial operation.

Additional, there has been no change in the number of species of terrestrial and marine life within the region.
