China's southern regions will see strong, lasting rainfall over the coming three days with some parts experiencing thunderstorms and hail, the country's weather forecast authorities said Friday.

The National Meteorological Center said the rain will cover several areas and will not be short-lived. The center warned of possible floods or other natural disasters as a result of the heavy rains.

The center also said that a weak southbound cold front will sweep eastern China from May 14 to 16.

Northeastern regions of China, including the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, will see temperature drops of 4 to 8 degrees Celsius on Friday, with some areas experiencing drops of 10 degrees, according to the center.

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau region, as well as China's northeastern, western and southern areas will receive slight to moderate rainfall on May 14, with a chance for thunderstorms, the center said.

East Sichuan Province and southern coastal areas will also see heavy rains from May 14 to 16, according to the center.
