5.0-magnitude quake hits near Honshu, Japan

An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale jolted near the east coast of Honshu, Japan at 2116 GMT on Tuesday (0516 Hong Kong time on Wednesday), the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 32.50 km, was initially determined to be at 36.2435 degrees north latitude and 141.7039 degrees east longitude.
