Heat wave blamed for 7 deaths in Chicago region

Autopsies revealed Friday showed that at least seven people from the Chicago area died from heat related causes within the last three scorching days, the Chicago Sun-times reports.
According to officials, Cesar Rodriguez, an 18-years-old man from Chicago, died Thursday when he collapsed while outside after biking, running and being outdoors with family and friends. Meanwhile, six other elder Chicagoans died all from heat related causes from Wednesday to Friday.
Storms cooled the city and suburbs on Friday after five days of 90-plus-Fahrenheit (over-32-Celsius) heat. Weather forecast showed more highs in the 90s for Saturday.
Temperatures hit 100 degrees Fahrenheit (about 38 degrees Celsius) on Thursday, for a second straight day at Midway Airport in Chicago. The last time that happened was 16 years ago during the deadly 1995 heat wave.
According to WGN TV meteorologist Tom Skilling, a check of Chicago's 83-year weather record at Midway reveals back-to-back 100s have occurred in only 11 of the past 83 years.
