A 2011-meter-long and 1.6-meter-wide chrysanthemum carpet at the 29th Chrysanthemum Festival in Kaifeng, Henan province, set a new world record as the longest flower carpet in the world on Tuesday.

The flower carpet, containing nearly 400,000 flowers set on the Zhengkai avenue, the expressway between Kaifeng and Zhengzhou, Henan's provincial capital, broke the former Guinness World Record, a 1916-meter-long flower carpet in Mexico in 2010.
A total of 1,350,000 pots of chrysanthemum are showing in the festival, which will last from Oct 11 to Nov 11.
Kaifeng, one of the most famous historical and cultural cities in China, and the capital of seven ancient dynasties, has been famous for planting chrysanthemums since ancient times.
