The Singapore Red Cross will send its second team of seven people to the typhoon-affected areas in the Philippines on Wednesday, the organization said.

They are expected to bring relief items to 47 relief centers in the northern Philippine city of Cagayan De Oro, which are temporary shelters to over 12,000 local residents displaced by Typhoon Washi.

The team will distribute 200,000 Singapore dollars (about 153, 846 U.S. dollars) worth of food and items donated by the Singaporeans, including food, clothing, blankets, school supplies and footwear.

Christopher Chua, secretary general of Singapore Red Cross will lead the team.

The Malay-Muslim community was also organizing fund raising activities to help the victims of the recent typhoon in the Philippines. Over 1,000 people were reported dead or missing in Iligan and Cagayan de Oro.

Donation boxes will be placed at 69 mosques during the seven days starting on Friday.
