Through Monday evening, rainstorms are also forecasted in the southern provinces including Jiangxi, Zhejiang, and Fujian, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) warned.

On Sunday, heavy rain fell in Guangdong and Guangxi, with precipitation in some areas reaching 135 millimeters. Local authorities said days of heavy rains have caused some rivers in Guangxi to swell and reach above warning levels.

The NMC on Sunday continued to issue an orange alert for rainstorms in Guangxi, the second highest in a four-tier alert system.

It forecast that the rainy weather will continue throughout the next week in the nation's southern regions.
