China's meteorological authority on Monday forecast heavy rain and storms will continue to hit the nation's south and southwest over the next three days.

During the period, eastern regions south of the Yangtze River as well as the southernmost part of China will experience strong rainstorms, with precipitation predicted to reach up to 150 mm, according to the National Meteorological Center.

Meanwhile, some areas in Yunnan and Guizhou provinces, as well as Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region will see thunderstorms, gales and heavy rain.

In contrast, it is forecast that a hot spell will continue baking the nation's north, with some areas experiencing temperatures ranging from 35 to 37 degrees Celsius.
