An earthquake measuring 5.6 Richter scale jolted Aceh province in northern tip of Sumatra island on Friday, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency reported.
The quake struck at 12:14 p.m. Jakarta time (0548 GMT) with epicenter at 452 km southwest Simeulu of the province and with the depth at 10 km under sea bed, an official of the agency told Xinhua by phone.
Indonesia sits on a vulnerable quake-hit zone so called "the Pacific Ring of Fire."
