An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale jolted southwest China's Yunnan Province at 11:21 a.m. Tuesday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10 km, was monitored at about 24.7 degrees north latitude and 99.2 degrees east longitude, the center said in a statement.

The temblor was monitored about two minutes after a shallow quake measuring 4.5 hit the same region in Shidian county under the jurisdiction of Baoshan city.

Casualties of the earthquakes are not immediately available.

Shidian is about 1,000 km southwest of Yiliang county, where multiple earthquakes up to 5.7-magnitude on Friday had killed 81 people and injured more than 800 others.
