The cold front sweeping north China will also reach into central and eastern China while bringing snowfall to northeast regions, China's meteorological authorities said Sunday.

Strong winds and temperature drops will spread to regions along the Yellow, Huai and Yangtze rivers and bring heavy rainfall to some of the regions, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said on its website.

Parts of north and northeast China, as well as central and east China, will see a temperature drop of six to eight degrees Celsius, or even 10 degrees Celsius in some regions, on Sunday and Monday, said the NMC.

Meanwhile, parts of Xinjiang, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Jilin and Heilongjiang will witness snowfall and sleet on Sunday. Snow will continue to fall in Jilin and Heilongjiang on Monday, with snowstorms in some northeastern areas, it said.

The NMC also warned of foggy weather in parts of Jiangsu, Hebei and Shandong provinces on Sunday, urging drivers to pay more attention to travel safety in these places.

In Beijing, the temperature on Sunday fell 10 degrees Celsius from the previous day, and the city was cloudy and hit by drizzles in the afternoon, according to the municipal meteorological center.

Winds of up to 38 kilometers per hour are expected to sweep through the city on Sunday and Monday, bringing the low temperature down to 3 degrees Celsius on Monday, according to the municipal center.
