Landslide in West Sumatra on Tuesday killed three people, while flood inundated hundreds of houses in the Indonesian province, an official said.

Heavy rains were to blame for the disaster in Solok Selatan district in the wee hours, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of the national disaster management and mitigation agency, told Xinhua by phone.

The accident hit a house and killed three people inside, he said.

Heavy downpour on Monday in Dompu district had submerged hundreds of houses, over 2,085 people prepared to take shelters, said Sutopo.
