Rescue teams have been dispatched to the quake-hit region from neighboring cities and provinces.

The epicenter, with a depth of 12 km, was initially determined to be at 28.48 degrees north latitude and 51.58 degrees east longitude.

Subsequently, two aftershocks of 5.3-magnitude and 4.4- magnitude hit Kaki.

Rostami, deputy governor of Bushehr province, told IRINN TV that due to the large expanse of the region that was hit by the quake, the number of casualties will rise.

Tremor was felt in Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant but work in the complex is not disrupted because the plant is about 70 km away from the epicenter of the earthquake, local media reported.
