Warm weather should continue today and tomorrow, though not as hot as yesterday, before the mercury drops on Thursday due to a weak cold front, forecasters said.

Today is to be cloudy with a chance of showers in part of the city, with a low of 19 degrees Celsius, about 7 degrees higher than yesterday. Today's high is expected to be 28, 2 degrees lower than yesterday.

Tomorrow should be cloudy to overcast and the mercury should range between 17 and 25 degrees.

The city felt a bit of summer yesterday with the mercury soaring to 30.7 degrees Celsius, the highest of the year.

"The city was under the control of a warm air mass and the temperature climbed quickly," said Fu Yi, a chief service officer of the bureau.

Many residents sported summer apparel yesterday, while some locals unprepared for the warm day sweated under jackets and coats.

However, the warm days won't last for too long as a cold front is coming on Thursday, with a low of 14 and a high of 21. On Friday, the high is expected to drop below 20 degrees Celsius.

The city has been dry with the humidity around 30 percent due to nine consecutive days of partly cloudy weather, Fu added.

"Locals are counseled to drink more water and wear sun protection," Fu said.
