An earthquake measuring 5.9 Richter scale jolted Papua in eastern parts of Indonesia on Wednesday, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency reported here.
The quake struck at 12:05 p.m. local time (0505 GMT), with epicenter at 96 km southeast Memberamoraya, Papua and a depth of 83 km under earth, an official of the agency told Xinhua.
Indonesia sits on a vulnerable quake-hit zone, the so-called " the Pacific Ring of Fire."
