Fisherman's Day marked in Faroe Islands

Fishing is the main industry of the Faroe Islands. To protect local culture, the second largest city Klaksvik hold the Fisherman's Day on the third week of August every year since 2004.

Local resident will celebrate the fesitval with a series of events including competitions, exhibitions and lectures. It has attracted more and more fishermen, specialists and tourist in recent years.

The Faroe Islands are an island group situated between the Norwegian Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, with a population of around 50,000. The total area is about 1,400 square kilometers.
