New 'walking shark' discovered in Indonesia

A new species of shark that uses it fins to walk along the bottom of the ocean floor has been discovered off the eastern coast of Indonesia, according to The Guardian on Aug. 30, 2013.

The "walking shark", named Hemiscyllium Halmahera, has wide horizontal stripes, and grows to a maximum length of 30 inches. It was first discovered by scientists from Conservation International.

Scientists said the shark is harmless to humans.
